This series actually starts with 'Baxter' and his friend 'Old Brown Bear' (#644358).
Up in the attic, the two bears were watching it rain. Baxter proclaimed "Today is a good day for a story". He searched for a book. "Old Brown Bear will you read me a story?" Baxter asked.
Brown Bear smiled and opened his arm. "Come sit besidne me, Baxter, and I'll read you one of my favorite books, about some old friends of mine . . . I call them my Cherished Friends." And so the stories began.
